Feeling nostalgic in a good way today. On the 19th of November 1974 I entered my first ever Martial Arts class. It was a Kenpo karate class under a fantastic instructor Ambrose Maloney and his wife. Circumstances changed when I went to secondary school so I switched to studying Wado Ryu on Gardiner Street. To write the entire story would take a volume but just a few very important Martial Artists to mention and thank for their guidance and freindship. Mr Maloney, Mr Iwasaki, Mr. Reily, Ms O'Shea, Mr Bill Wallace although we met only very briefly he greatly influenced me, and most of all the wonderful team mates from the Hitmen squad especially its founder and my good friend Robert Devane and all those who work and study at MAI. Do I have any regrets about the path I chose. Honestly I wonder how things may have been better competitively had I stuck to one system but then I would not be the instructor I am today. Anyway I am not continuing this post as I believe that with good fortune I am only about half way along the path. Here's to the next 40 years. I hope many of my friends in the martial arts will join me in the journey.....OSU

Wow Declan i'm no spring chicken but i was two months old then! thats some amount of training you've done thusfar. Everyone at MAI is very lucky to have you especially as you never rest on your laurels but are still leading by example every class. Heres the next number of years.
