It's no secret that I want to do my best as an mma fighter and that I am looking for a shot at the UFC.
A while ago a friend contacted me regarding a new fight name for me. I like 'The Man'. It's been used in my family since I was a kid. However, I don't think it does much for me. I would also like to tie in my Irish roots (but not corny) because I always seem to fight outside of Ireland.
So, what do you all think of Robert 'The Druid' Devane? Druids are cool and it definitely has a stronger image and an Irish one too. I reckon it would be easier to remember and I could really have fun with my entrance etc.
I probably have already decided but I would really like to know what you guys think.

Hola. Now... this personal opinion... so please don't HATE on me. So you're looking for alternatives for: Robert " The Man" Devane ... via ... Robert " Insert Your Name Here" Devane??? And you've stumbled on: Robert " The Druid" Devane??? Now personal opinion dictates... that personally... wouldn't call it cool... but wouldn't call it corny either. Would call it QUIRKY! Personal opinion dictates that QUIRKY... if executed correctly... can be EDGY!! FYI - Like either " The Man" or " The Druid". For comical reasons... since it's NEVER sunny in this Country... I would submit: Robert " Singing In... " Devane. or: Giving it a real shot - and reflecting Irish mythology: Robert " The Dagda" Devane. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dagda Whatever your choice... it's the FIGHT that counts!! Please don't HURT me... Peace out: Darin.

33 people read this so far but only 1 opinion!
Thanks for that Darin. I wouldn't have stuck up the question if I was going to be easily offended by people's opinions. Dagda is a good one but I still prefer The Druid so far. Ya never know, I may stick with The Man. As I'm representing MAI I want to hear what some of you think.

I guess 'The Druid' stands out a lot more just 'the man'. So it will give you a lot more attention and publicity. What do you think of this as a new image? It might look better if you wore a black Druid robe and carried a staff or something. lol

Hi Rob,
The Druid is interesting but I see you more like "The Celt" fearless in battle. You could also use CUCHULAINN (Koo Cullen) who was a legendary Irish Warrior although I think you would need to give Bruce Buffer some Irish lessons first to be able to pronounce it.
Cheers Phillip

i'm with phil at first i was like ehhhhhh!!!! and the more i said it to myself it sounded better, i would have associated druids with stonehenge but when i checked and there is more association with ireland scotland and wales, when you say it like it being announced it sounds cool ROBERT "the DRUUUUUUIDDDD!!!!" Thanks for the input guys. Steve Collins was the Celtic Warrior which was cool. A Druid is a celtic sorceror which to me is pretty cool. I didn't want to go with a 'macho' name as it wouldn't suit my image. Obviously I need to be training hard and winning fights but getting the name sorted sooner rather than later will help things along too hopefully. That's a cool image Will - can you put newgrange on it instead of stonehenge? Who in the club is a graphic designer as I need a logo designed?

Personally I'd stick with "The Man" You've begun the "branding" of your name already.

I like 'The Man' but the more i think of it 'The Druid' is pretty cool and easily shows people that your Irish - personallity is key in MMA to making it big, yano as in, Randy Couture (An all American Hero) Rampage (The mean guy) etc...etc. I'm up for the Druid - You should start a poll

I like the Druid, its original and darker and highlights more of an image than "The Man" although i like "The Man" i think The Druid is more catchy and makes you think about it and it does suit your name. Its Dark, its original, its New, and most important its real IRISH!!!! Stick with it i think its cool...

Well me personally I love the new name, as it's mysterious !!! that's you all over. I liked The Man to but it served it's purpose while it lasted. I think a new change. I mean the name did rhyme with Devane "The Man". But everyone that know's Rob they never get your name right which is why get a new image and I love the new name.

Sorry Rob, I just think it sounds a bit too WWF and not warrior enough to me. Will think about it and see if I can come up with any other ideas. I thought the Dagda idea was a good one though. You might get more replies if you ran a competition, maybe for a private class or two.
