THE M.A.I. 3,500 ROUND KICKBOXING CHALLENGE
3500ROUNDCHALLENGE.pdf (373.27 KB)
This is going to be an absolutely wicked event this year. It's a sparring challenge and everyone including beginners are extremely welcome. It's more of an endurance challenge than a hard hitting challenge and the sparring will be light. In fact, you can even pick your sparring or create a small group on the day to get your rounds done.
Our aim is to get 3,500 rounds of kickboxing sparring completed. Each of the M.A.I. kids will complete 25 x 1.5 minute rounds in a row. That's a total of 37.5 minutes of non-stop sparring.
The M.A.I. adults will complete 50 x 2 minute rounds in a row. That's a total of 1hour 40minutes of non-stop sparring! Yes! bring it on.
As you may or may not know, I myself completed a 100 round challenge in the past and it has been one of the highlights of my life so I do believe that you will really all love this years event.
We need at least 40 kids and 50 adults so we really do need you to get your names down a.s.a.p. so we can get you registered with a sponsorship card. we really do need the numbers this year and that's why we've made this event for EVERYBODY. Last year the event was too hard for the kids to have been involved but not this year
There's going to be some buzz electric atmosphere at M.A.I. Dublin 7 that day All the instructors will be there to help out and to take part too. We'll have complimentary refreshments, pumping music and an amazing m.c. to keep us motivated throughout.
How do you give your name? You can give your name and receive your sponsorship pack from any of the instructors. The main name collectors are: Dublin 7 - Eddie Lawlor and Dublin 15 - Joe Doyle.
ABOUT THE CHARITY
We've chosen a small struggling charity that really needs our donations.
We've chosen a charity that doesn't have massive overheads (they use rented office space)
We've chosen a charity that doesn't have a massive wage bill (only 1 full-time staff member, 2 part-time and tons of volunteers)
We've chosen a charity that's been in operation since the 1970's.
We've chosen a charity that is local to us.
We've chosen a charity that works tirelessly to help children and parents in hospitals all around the country.
We've chosen www.childreninhospital.ie
Despite what some people are saying out there about the economy on the way up, it is still a very hard financial time for the majority of people. We know it's hard to find the money to donate. Charities have been hit hard, especially the very small charities like this one. They really do need our help. Please do what you can now, even if it means that you can't donate for the whole of next year.
To share a small personal story with you:
Most of you know that I'm a white belt parent at the moment and just last week we had to go to the doctor twice because Bobby had a cough & cold. The second time we went to the G.P. (and after using anti-biotics) they immediately sent us to the hospital to get a chest x-ray. This is a very worrying ordeal that every parent has experienced before. It all turned out to be simply a viral infection but there are many, many kids in hospitals who don't get such good news. This charity specialises in making the hospital environment better for kids. They operate in 19 hospitals around the country and provide care, toys and information to parents. Happier children heal quicker.
