Most people don't know this about me but I read a lot (not just martial arts!) and I am a firm believer that you further your own education through reading and the books that you choose. So, anyone that hasn't picked up a book since school, get reading! Anyway, there was part of a thread a while ago about good books. Anyone got any suggestions (Martial Arts related)? As an interesting read for anyone not just Martial Artists but yes Martial Arts related I recommend The Art of War by Sun Tsu and of course every japanese businessman's pocketbook The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi more about the philosophy of fighting

I will check them books out, I know its not a martial arts book, but I am just finished Roberto Durans life story, Hands of Stone, its an amazing insight to one of the best fighters of our time, fascinating up bringing, and his crazy life.You want to hear the story about him knocking out a horse, all for free drink for the night because he had no money,is he Irish I asked!!

I recently read a book which I would recommend. Its called Waking Dragons and written by an Englishman Goran Powell. Its a relatively short quick read. Without giving too much away its a personal account of mainly karate training from beginner to black belt culminating in undertaking a 30 man kumite. Highlight of the book for me was his views on dealing with the dreaded 'fear'.
