This is a short and intense 3 hour course that is suitable for anyone looking to be able to defend themselves or their loved ones. Definitely a MUST if you have never attended this course before. There's a hell of a lot of material covered by one of this country's top instructors, Declan Kidd. Sunday 21st February 10am to 1pm You can register here: www.cqcireland.com/Here's the flier: www.martialartsinc.com/2016/armedCQC2016FEB.pdf

In all my years at MAI the one course that sticks out as a memory for me is the CQC Course. I've done it 4 times! Why have I done it so many times? You can never have too much knowledge about the streets. Awareness, defending yourself without these crazy unrealistic methods and also great fun. Declan is a master at it and is still as eager to teach it as the first time he did it. Anyone interested? Let me know!

I am constantly researching and practising new self defence methods and although the changes may be small they make a big difference. Looking forward to showing the course attendees the most effective ways to escape and survive street situations.

We started with emphasising the fence ie keeping your hands in front of your face in front of an aggressor. We also covered personal space and watching what leg an attacker has in front to predict the first strike. We went on to using heel palms to the nose to pre-emptive strike if an aggressor closes the gap. We worked the smother or monkey block with goal of hoping a striker breaks his fist of your elbow. Overall we covered strike defences, several grap defence, pre-emptive kicking, kicking and getting back your feet from the ground. Some visual drills to spot potential danger etc. It was a very focused group. well done and bring on the next one.
