I seriously cannot wait for this. I want to put a few minds at ease. While there will be a lot more person to person contact in these groups it will not be hardcore to the extent that anybody feels they cannot keep up. The point is to progressively build your fitness and skills to a point that you feel ready to compete. Even if competition is not your goal it will introduce you to safe sparring and drills to improve such. I encourage everyone to try this. One thing is for sure it will be an environment of trust and familiarity. We will know each other better than in general kickboxing classes and this will lead to ability to use equipment and methods I would not use with people who's abilities I do not know. My intention is to start wihth some drills that we will use absolutely every week. Their function will be to condition you to the fitness levels, technical skills and conditioning to allow you to participate in sparring. There will be some type of sparring every week but conducted in a controlled and well supervised environment. Anyway sign up and benfit

A few more names went down for this but need a few more. As I keep repeating this is must do traiing if competitive element appeals to you in any way. All sparring will be controlled and difficulty will be progressive. So sign up and see for yourself.

First session was on Saturday and it was good to see so many eager students so early on Saturday morning. We got off to a flying start with a vigorous warm up and stretch. Lots of drills and conditioning done and assessments made so forward from here I see promising thigns for this group. I am looking to send as many of you as posible to fight in the Irish Cup in June so bring on next week. Remember to use the note books I gave you to right down the trickier drills and map your progress.

Second sessionwas on Saturday and we are nearly at full compliment so ramped up the difficulty. To warm up we did the 100 hundred kick and ten splits drill but instead of the pads we kicked...each other lol. The on to first step sparring done in relative slow motion to familiarise them with distancing and movement followed by the main continuous drill and adding a kick to the points drill we started last week. Next week there will be an increase in the intensity of sparring and conditioning work. Photos to be taken methinks

This week we switched emphasis towards the points fighting side of training. A couple of rounds of sparring to observe the level and some drills to improve things and then we finished off with a curse of a drill for hand eye co-ordination and physical conditioning. Next week we will do some stuff to improve flexibility and focus on the boxing aspect.
