What's with all the hullabalu over samurai swords? There has been a recent ban and it doesn't make much sense. Quite a few people think that it is illegal to have these swords at home in your house. 'The government will ban the import, sale and hire of Samurai swords.' That statement doesn't say that it's illegal to own the swords, but from now on you won't be able to buy them legally. I'd love to see them try to raid every house in the country to remove samurai swords. As for walking around the street with a sword, that's always been illegal. All martial artists should read the weapons and firearms act. - it clearly states that any object carried with 'intent' is illegal. If you are caught with a screw driver etc. and you can't prove that you didn't have 'intent' to use it as a weapon, then you will get tried.
Do they really think that crime is going to decrease because of the ban? Do they really think that a scumbag who likes to chop people up won't simply choose another readily available weapon? Have you checked out hardware stores lately?! There's loads to choose from. Personally I like the battery operated chain saws!
And why all the emphasis on 'Samurai' swords? Can I buy a 'Ninja' sword instead? There was a brutal newspaper article headline a couple of months ago describing an attack with a 'martial arts' sword - bad press for martial arts and totally unrelated.
What about banning other objects that are very frequently used? Like baseball bats. Apparently more baseball bats are sold per head of population in Northern Ireland than anywhere else in the World - the clincher is that they don't even have a baseball team!
Do you know what else is used in violent attackes very very often too? Motorbike Helmets! Yes, they should definitely be banned too!
I better log off now because I have to finish the paper work for my new hand gun!
