I got no sympathy what so ever when I posted about my poor busted finger so I though I dedicate this thread to it It's still busted and I can't make a proper fist - but that hasn't stopped me training (or fighting) with it. I'm off to see a hand specialist this Tuesday. P.s. before you complain - it's not my middle finger I'm holding up. P.p.s. just noticed I have a little black eye in the picture - haven't a clue where that came from. P.p.p.s. I got a new hair cut! Attachments:

Ten mins with the specialist today and guess what it cost? 50? No. 100? No. 150? No. One hundred and ninty euro! And the specialist's €190 advice? Rest it!
At least I did find out that it's ligament damage and not a shard of bone as diagnosed by the hospital.
So, I'm going to ignore it now and continue to train hard and simply try not to hurt it.

Rob you should get the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), and then in one of your travels ( In Europe) go to see a doc..( free)..or to any hospital ( at urgencies)
Healthcare in Ireland is sooooooooo bad!
I like the haircut by the way!
Take care

Good to hear finger ok!
Dont forget, if you have private health insurance (VHI, etc.) some of the 190 might be claimable. If not then you can claim back at standard rate (20%) through a Med1 at the end of the year. Even if you do have PHI you can still claim back through Med1 the portion that is not covered by your PHI provider.
To claim anything through Med1 the first 150 (or something) you pay in a year is not claimable but anything after that its 20% of the balance. So you could claim 20% of 40!
The med1 not only covers doctors/consultants, etc. but also medication.
I know everyone says, what's the point as its so little but it s our entitlement as taxpayers to get what we're due and it all adds up!
Must point out that Im not sure if the figures above are exactly correct as I'm recalling from memory, but you get the idea!

I thought you guys had your own version of our NHS over there? I broke my foot coming out of the shed recently, and within 4 hours I was X-Ray'd and plastered. Within 2 days I had an appointment to see a specialist, and within a week I had been assigned a physio. Cost = £0. Granted, my National Insurance deductions from my salary pay for the NHS, but I would be paying NI even if I never needed to use the NHS.

have to say Rob.. my attention was more drawn to the haircut than the busted finger!! As for the consultant I've had to take Ben to the same fella 3 times (with the same problem!) and it cost €120 each time for 5 mins we have to take him again next week and pay yet another €120 just so he can give us a surgery date - I think instead of scrubs, these guys should wear balaclava's... phew.. feel better after venting ... now what was that about your finger? hahaha
