So straight into it - I wasn't even back home for 24 hours before I was back on a plane to Newcastle to train with Ian 'The Machine' Freeman.
I didn't sleep at all on the plane so I lost a day and it caught up to me straight away on Monday. Thank god I only had to do an evening session which was a great way to get me going again. The fact that it was a Kickboxing class was good too because guess what? I'm actually alright at that
It was hard to sleep Monday evening because my body thought it was the start of the day!
Tuesday we had 2 sessions in a row. Clinch escapes and it was great to have Louise getting stuck in beside me. After that we did the group class - most of the participants have fights coming up so we covered sweeping people from guard - always handy to go over in case you end up on your back (and you will in this sport).
Just had a tough session today. To warm up we did full-on grappling. I must have done 6 or 7 rounds. Then another 6 or 7 rounds of ground and pound grappling and yet another 6 or 7 rounds of standing grappling with strikes and takedowns. I thought the rounds were 3 minutes long and was disgusted when Ian said they were only 2 mins! Still, nearly 20 rounds of 2 mins is 40 mins - plus some of the beasts in the class were 2 weight categories over me! No excuses though because I was happy with my performance.
That's not it either because I've another session in a couple of hours and after that we're going to watch the last UFC at Ian's house - he doesn't know the results yet so I'll have to bite my lip.
That's all for now so talk later. Adios Amigos
