Our very own instructor Louise Quinn has been asked to try out for the next series of the tv show 'Gladiators'. For those of you that haven't seen it, it's on Sky 1 and it looks very tough. We would like to wish 'Lethal' Louise the very best of luck with her training and with the try outs. www.martialartsinc.com/lethallouise.JPG

Louise will be attending try outs in Glasgow and they are described as '5 hours of various vigorous physical activities' so Louise is training hard at the moment.
Most people watch 'Gladiators' from the comfort of their sofa and reckon they would love to have a go but Louise is one of the very few to actually do something about it.
Congratulations Louise and the very best of luck.

Louise got less than 2 weeks notice for the trials which are this coming Monday in Glasgow and I'm heading over there too.
Louise Q - Tell them about the different training you've been doing besides the regular Kickboxing training.

Hi everyone , Thank you for all the support ! Its been extremely hard as there is a competition on Saturday and plus training for this is very different . I only got notice last Monday and told I have a 5 hour training session , so thanks to Rob he has helped me with a plan as to help me train up for this which is really tough , so I'm doing lots of running and lots of sprints even last night , i finished work went straight home and went for a run which consisted of lots of sprints at 12 pm last night !!!!! I'm doing lots of handstands with press-ups (really hard) , lots more press-ups ordinary ones , chin ups , triceps dips , and hanging off bars holding for 1 min, and all that I have 2 sets of each . I train twice a day getting my Cardio done too . Also i have weights twice a week doing power lifting again , and its tough and not forgetting all the sparring , so roll Saturday for competition and then rest Sunday and d - day Monday 22nd . So thanks again for the support and I will keep you posted as to everything I had to do .

Louise did exceptionally well. They said that there had been 10,000 applicants and they had chosen the best 1200 which included Louise. They had to wittle them down to only 80 people. Everyone in Louise's group of approx. 35 were excellent. Every person was a top athlete in their field. There was a lot of waiting around and tension similar to a Martial Arts competition. The organisers kept reiterating that the testing was hard and it actually was. They were told that only a small number of the previous groups were able to complete the test which included cruel crocodile walks, torturous chin ups and grueling shuttle runs and obstacle course amongst other difficult activities. The course was designed to build up lactic acid and to test mental toughness. Louise successfully completed everything and with flying colours and I thought she had a great chance of getting picked but they could only choose a small amount of people and Louise was unlucky. I asked her and she said she would definitely do it again so you never know - next time. Well done Louise. We are very proud of you and you will always be our very own MAI Gladiator!
oh yeah, plus Louise would have knocked the head off all of them in a fight. ha ha

Hi everyone , Thanks again for the support , and thank you rob for being there and helping me through it . There was alot of waiting around and alot of nerves , it did feel like a competition . I had the best laugh and good experience . We were brought into a room and told the training was going to be seriously hard , that they made this years training more up pace . We were brought off to the fitness room which was a big hall with lots of stations which consisted of chin ups for 60 secs , bur pees for 60 secs , chest press with a medicine ball , long jump , shuttle relay , crocodile walk which I'm still REALLY sore after plus i had to tape my feet together , then last station was a obstacle course which had lots of crazy things . It was really tough but I have to say I really enjoyed it and I would do it again tomorrow . To get picked from 10,000 people to 1,200 was brilliant . It was the best experience ever and everyone was super friendly . Roll on the next challenge ........ Thanks again for the support .
