Many people ease off their training during the summer months as they feel uncomfortable due to heat and humidity. All top athletes rack up their training the summer months for the same reasons. If you can train hard during the summer months then your cardio vascular fitness benefits from the increased moisture in the air so you fell fitter when it cools down. Training when it is warm also prevents injury as muscles are naturally warm. I usually switch my training from resistance based to cardio based around now but have not been helped by the weather (I love jogging in the park). I have been doing lots of indoor cycle work and am also gradually increasing the amount of skipping I do. I remember the fittest I ever was, was when I found time to skip for at least an hour a day. This is my new goal amongst others. Set some goals and get to the dojo so we can help you achieve them.

Update: So about a week after posting this I am definitely feeling happier with the results. I have cut about 5 kilos in 10 days but that is too fast so not hoping for much over the next week in terms of weight loss. Have also been doing a lot of bodyweight resistance and elastic band resistance work and am definitely feeling more toned. Have to say I was really sore on Tuesday after the conditioning from Saturday mixed with the skipping but it was an indication that it is working. Hope to see many of you guys getting stuck in.

It is nearly the end of the first phase of my summer training regime and time for a review of my goals. My original goal was to cut from 96 kilos (had reached this through having injuries and flu and therefore not being able to train hard oh yeah and having the appetite of a combine harvester doesn't help I am happy to say that I weighed 83.4 kilos yesterday evening and my new goal is to hit 82 by next weds am As for the six pack mmmm maybe I am genetically predisposed to that little band of loose flesh around my midriff but i'll keep trying haha
