Tuesday I did bjj in the afternoon. I'm nursing bruised ribs at the moment so I didn't train in the evening. The thing about bruised ribs is that it's not the initial impact, they get worse when you keep training on them (like I do!).
Yesterday I went to the gym and did 10 x 3min rounds of shadow boxing and bag work. Yesterday evening I went to the strength and conditioning and it was a good and tough workout.
After that, we went to an Iron Maiden concert. Declan; you would have loved it.
Today I've got a bjj class this afternoon. It's only rolling that agravates my ribs but hopefully they'll be okay today. Pro sparring again tomorrow.
Love yas and leave yas - gotta finish laundry! - I go through some amount of clothes here!

I got stuck into the grappling on Thursday afternoon and got to roll with some good guys. I did very well considering my ribs were killing me and I couldn't use my weight properly. I decided to use the 'ignore' method and I paid the price afterwards.
Later on that evening I went back to the gym to watch Denis Kang's last technique session before he heads to Oz for his next fight.
I slept pretty rough on Thursday night because of my ribs so unfortunately I wasn't able to do the pro sparring. My head was wrecked because that's what I'm here for and it's such an annoying injury. I watched the sparring and then I did bag work and used the exercise bike. I still got a good sweat going. Afterwards, myself and a training partner of Denis, a really good bjj guy called Tom walked all around the place and then went to see 'Predators' - good movie if you're a fella - not sure if Louise would have gone to it with me!
This morning I got stuck into a 10am strength and conditioning session with coach Chaimberg. It was tough but good. He kindly gave me a trx suspension trainer to bring back to our club - cool. Heading to some shoot fighting fights at Eric's gym later.
I'll have been here 2 weeks tomorrow so another 2 weeks left. I thought my next fight would have been confirmed by now but still waiting to hear. Hope you're not missing me too much. Hey, there's loads on at the dojos at the moment that I'm missing out on: The Summer Sale and Sparring Challenge Week - best of luck with that. It'll be a great buzz.

That's cool Big Willie - thanks for that man. So, Saturday evening I went to the UMF amateur mma show. It was held outdoors under a marquee. Eric's club runs it. Amateur fights here are different from back home. They allow head shots but everyone wears twelve once style boxing gloves that have fingers free for grappling. It makes it more even for grapplers and strikers. There were some good fights and I had a ringside seat. At half time all the pro and famous fighters were called into the ring to be acknowledged. I was honoured to be called up. I don't speak french at all but I could figure out that they said pro mma fighter and World Karate champion. A lot of people congratulated me afterwards. It was mad. I get more recognition here than I do at home. At home they just say 'There's that big headed sap Devane' ha ha. Sunday I rested and got more laundry done. The World cup was big here too, much to my surprise because I was hoping to completely escape it So, today (monday) I had small gloves grappling and sparring. Yes, my ribs are still sore but I was determined to give it a good go. I got stuck in and I definitely did you all proud. I believe that what happens in training stays in training which is why it's training - remember that if you tap me out!! But I did do very good today. My ribs are sore again now but I am still going to train - I won't grapple though because I'm saving my ribs for tomorrow. I've got boxing training in the morning and then Jon Chaimberg (the strength and conditioning coach) has invited me to the Olympic wrestlers gym. Need to be fresh for that. It's very warm and sunny again here but the past 3 days were very rainy and wet. Hopefully I'm not missing out on too much at home. That's it from me at the moment. Talk to yaz later.

so Monday evening I went for a run and did some weights and strength exercises and a bit of a swim.
Yesterday morning I had a boxing session at the Grants brother gym with Howard Grant. Skipping, Shadow boxing and 9 rounds of 3 mins (only 30 second break) on the mitts. Then Howard jumped in and we did boxing drills on the floor and ceiling ball - it's an honour if a coach jumps in to train with you even for just a bit. After that I did about 10 mins on the speedball.
I was supposed to go to the wrestling club on Tuesday evening but it didn't happen and I went to a bjj class at Tristar instead. Got to roll with a few of them there and ribs are holding up well.
This morning I had a muay thai class with Peter (crazy surname). I think he is Firas's muay thai coach. Firas is GSP's head coach. It's good to do thai boxing with a coach who is from Thailand. We get on well and he really wants to come to Ireland to train me. He said it the last time I was here too but I didn't think he was serious. I think he is. He kept telling everyone he's coming over to train with me this winter. After that I jumped in to help Kenny Florian (UFC fighter) out with some drills. He was doing padwork with Firas and then defences against my shoot takedowns and back on pads. It was great to be involved in his training.
So that's it for now. I have a little bit of time to eat and recover because I have strength and conditioning training later with Jon Chaimberg and then wrestlings drills. It's all go alright. No rest for the wicked. Hope all of you are training hard too and enjoying it.
