Got here yesterday after brutal flight - had to go backwards to France before going forwards to Montreal and they stuck me in the middle seat between 2 fellas who were all elbows onto my side! First session today. Techniques first and then small gloves grappling with strikes (starting from single leg against the fence). Denis Kang was my first round and I managed to get an accidental elbow which caused a black eye. I say 'accidental' because even though elbow strikes were allowed, it was a glancing elbow while Denis was grappling that actually caught me. How do you block an elbow that's not an elbow but then is!? So, what did I do? Give up and sit out? No way hozay! I'm here to train so I did another 3 rounds. Had a good round with UFC fighter Jonathan Goulet too. GSP is in Vegas at the mo shting the next series of The Ultimate Fighter. That's all my new for the monent. Another 2 sessions later today - it's 5 hours behind here. I'll post when I can. Love yaz. Attachments:

Good luck to you Robert, and remember that everyone back home is cheering for you. I was messing around with photoshop last night (hobbie of mine) and I made this for you. I hope you like it.

wow - thanks for that Big Willie Did 2 classes in a row last night - bjj for mma and muay thai for mma with a few rounds of sparring. Already had a private boxing lesson this morning with Howard Grant of Grant brothers fame. Heading to do strength and conditioning with Jonathan Chaimberg is a couple of hours. Eye looks even better today.

I've completed 4 training sessions since I last blogged! Tuesday evening strength and conditioning and yesterday I went to Tristar gym and just did my own training - shadow boxing and bag work - there's always people at the gym doing their thing. A lot of them are competitive fighters.
Then yesterday evening I went back to Jon Chaimbergs place for more strength and conditioning. Tough and explosive training.
After that Denis Kang and I went to see a movie - 'Grown Ups' it was only okay. Neither of us could sit easy from the muscular aches!
Today I just had an hour and a half of BJJ. It went well and I felt comfortable. I got about 6 x 5min rounds of grappling in.
Today is the first day I'm not going to train twice because I'm saving my body for pro sparring tomorrow morning. It's always the toughest session of the week because all the pro's show up.
That's all the info I have for yaz at the mo. Oh yeah I learnt a new 'plata' today. The rotoplata!

Pro sparring was hard. They all sparred different from me. This was advantageous and disadvantageous at the same time. I did 4 rounds and then grappled. I also then helped Denis drill for his fight. What he did was very difficult and he did really well.
No more black eyes for me you'll be sorry/glad to hear!
Yesterday I had a bjj class with the gi (uniform). It went well but very bloody warm. We did loads of butterfly guard practise and drills.
Then last night, Eric, Denis and I watched the UFC together. That was good. I won't spoil the results for anyone.
Gonna chill out today because I reckon this week coming will be even harder training plus there's been a heatwave warning - should be good for weight loss!
Hope you all had a good weekend.

It was seriously warm at the gym today. Small gloves sparring this morning. No gi bjj grappling this evening and then Muay Thai with sparring just to finish us off. Everyone was soaked and no fans anywhere - you guys don't know how lucky you have it. Apparently it was the warmest day so far this year and we've another few days like it this week. I'll be a featherweight by the end of this trip - with a redneck tan!

Sounds very tough but fruitful man. I have always been an advocate of training hard when it is warm as one it helps weightloss and too reduces injuries (except for the eyes that is ) Have a good one today dude
