Scary stuff-a neighbour of mine was over in the states last year with his uncle and had photos of him in his basement where his uncle had a full walk in arms room

DAY 6:
Sure what better way to start a Monday than with small gloves training at 9.30am. 30 mins of technique and 30 mins of ground and pound. Did a bit of drilling at the end just to make sure there wasn't an inch of dryness on my t-shirt!
Back to the gym and striking work and then wrestling drills and light rolling.
I probably could have done a third session today but as it's only Monday, really no point in burning out. This week will be a long one.

DAY 7:
Kickboxing sparring. A few warm up rounds and a few heavier rounds. It's amazing because you spar with different people and then afterwards find out that they fight for the UFC or for Strikeforce or they have over 30 fights etc. There are no easy rounds here.
At 3pm I got to stretch out and do light techniques and strategy work.
I had a private session booked at 5.30 and hit the pads. Different coaches hold the pads differently and coach Mike (I don't know his last name yet) likes fast padwork. I was then going to do some wrestling drills but I was happy when I found out that everyone was finished. Tomorrow is ahead of me and I've go 4 sessions planned.

Thanks for the updates Rob, very interesting. Sounds like tough going but I know you train hard and always seem to enjoy it. On the junk food comment, Fish and Curry Chips.... hmmm, never tried that, maybe I should give it a go.

Oh love that little gun, if I was there that is something I would pick hhahahahaha. I'm looking forward to having you back home, but I know how much effort you put into training. Sounds tough and you have prepared so hard for this fight too. Un leash it all on the 10th and keep up the hard training too.

DAY 9:
9.30am Big gloves sparring again. We always do 20 to 30 mins of light sparring, kicking and drills before we even start sparring. Then I got in 4 good rounds. Round 1 I sparred a fella who is 18-6 as a middleweight. Round 2 I had a wrestler who is 8-0 and fights for Strikeforce. Round 3 I sparred with UFC fighter Diego Sanchez. And my final round, when I was already wrecked was against UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon 'Bones' Jones. I was determined to put on a good spar. What happens in training stays in training so I don't want to go into details. I did do well overall and afterwards Jon Jones complemented my striking. That was good enough for me. We finished with a bit of conditioning and another prayer from Diego Sanchez.
We got back to the gym for 5 to grapple but nothing much was happenning. Greg Jackson has gone to Hawaii with Andrei Arlovski and when he's away there can be a bit less organisation. To be honest it suited me grand. Today was the first day that I only did one training session and my body needed the mini rest because it's 3 more sessions tomorrow.
The very best of luck to everyone going for the grade tomorrow at home.

DAY 10: I walked into the gym and the first thing Jon Jones said to me was well done yesterday. So, I must have done well at the sparring! Friday is a 10.15am start (a lie in!) and it's wrestling drills with coach Latrell. After that I wrestled a bit with Jon Jones but I didn't have much of a hope as his wrestling is excellent. We then did 2 rounds of bjj and I faired better at that. It was great to be able to train with him. You're talking the UFC light-heavyweight champion. He's only 24 and I think he's going to dominate the sport in the future. I then had a 15 minute break and straight into padwork with Coach Mike Valle. He trained Tom Watson for his last fight with Ninja Rua and we all know that Tom completely dismantled him with strikes, so much so that ninja retired from fighting afterwards.
Friday evenings there isn't much happenning at the gym so I got my strength and conditioning work done. Trust me, it's easier to write that than it was to do it! The altitude is still tough on the lungs and I know it'll stand to me when I get back.
I'm looking forward to hearing how the grade went.

DAY 11: Cardio at the gym. Later Bikram Yoga and this time I'm nearly certain I don't like it After that about 10 of us from the gym went to a sports bar to watch the ufc live. It was a busy place and interesting watching the fights with a bunch of fighters. There was potential for us to get in a fight too when a drunk fella and his mates were pushing their luck. I hoped for their sake that it wasn't going to 'kick off'. But at the same time, a lot of people here carry guns and the gun laws are very relaxed in Albuguergue. It would suck to get shot leading up to my fight The UFC was good and I won't spoil the results. Sunday = rest. Then I've got 5 more solid days of training and return home on Saturday.
