I'm back from Canada and back from Newcastle. Training went very well there too - tough as always. Plus, I ran into Cheryl and told her to dump that loser!
This week's training is probably the hardest of the lot. It's the last week I'll be sparring because next week I'll just taper the training down and rest for a couple of days before the weigh in.

Since I got back, a lot of people (surprisingly!) said they liked my Montreal blog and everyone's been asking me about my training in Newcastle. I didn't write a blog when I was in Newcastle because the internet there was poxy (is that a bad word!?).
The training in Newcastle was no easier. I had 2 hard sessions everyday for 4 days, Tuesday to Friday. I got the chance to train again with Darren Towler. He has an upcoming fight with mma legend Dan Severn! Darren's a super partner and he's huge. Solid muscle. He out-weighs me by four and a half stone and I felt every bit of it when he landed on me! It was great because I didn't have to hold back when grappling. We got to do plenty of sparring and grappling over there as well as loads of technique drilling. It doesn't matter how well you think you know a technique because if you haven't drilled it enough it goes out the window when that cage door is closed. One of the nights I had to do 3 x 5 min rounds. That might not sound that bad but I had a different and fresh opponent pushing the pace every minute! I'd done this before when I trained with them but it never gets any easier. It was great training with The Machine again. There are a few others from Team Machine fighting on the same card as me so it will be a good night.
This week is probably my hardest training of the lot but I'm much happier to be at home. Next week I still train but no sparring or weights plus it won't be at the same intensity - can't wait for that! Kiefer and Michael have been great partners for me and I've seen a good improvement in both of them since I was away.

Best of luck for the fight Rob. Everyone needs a little bit of luck now and again. From all the training you put in I don't believe you will need it.

Well, all the hard training is finished. I did my last sessions yesterday. Today and tomorrow I don't train but I still have to be careful what I eat because I still have weight to lose. Everything has gone great and I feel I've trained harder than ever. The fact that Michael and Kiefer are training up for fights too really helped me training partner wise. Training in Canada and Newcastle was super. I'm as ready as I'll ever be. People ask me all the time whether I'm going to win. It's a hard question to answer without appearing like a cocky sap. I am very positive. My training has gone great. I'm injury free. I will win. Thanks to all for all the support by text/email/call/forum/and in person. It's much appreciated.
