Just like always Rob has trained like an animal for this fight - between going to Canada and England alone and training with top level fighters is already a serious achievment!! And coming back and getting stuck in with your last 2 weeks! Well done on all your training Rob,the hard part is over now and it was a pleasure getting to help you out and train along side you - good luck on sunday ill be there right beside ya for the whole thing to witness another whopper victory!!

Good luck with the fight, as with the previous fights it shouldn't be any problem to you with the training you've put in.

Didn't go my way this time guys. Sorry. I started well and landed a leg kick and a couple of good punches which opened his eye. He clinched and I thought he was a bit rocked from my cross so I thought I'd clinch and get a quick finish with knees. He held me tight and tried to get me down but couldn't. He didn't want to strike with me. He tried a takedown but I botched it on him and landed on top. I was happy to be in that position but he immediately pulled rubber guard. I could feel the triangle coming and did the proper defence but my hand slipped off his leg and I ended up in the triangle. I then tried a triangle escape but slipped on the canvas (excuses!). He put on a tight arm bar and I was too stubborn to tap. He tightened the triangle and it felt like I held it for ages. He landed some nice elbows. I tried the escape again but to no avail and I tapped out at about 3mins something into round one. Am I dissappointed. Of course I am! Am I devastated? No, of course not. I wanted to win. Coulda, woulda, shoulda done this, that and the other. I did think I had it in the bag and I really think he did too right up until the end. At least I didn't get beaten up - I simply lost. Robert is The Man but he's not Superman! So, what am I going to do now? Retire? Yeah right! I'm already in talks about my next fight. I've had 3 pro fights now at high level in the UK and I'm 2-1. I've always wondered how I'd handle defeat so I'll just sulk for a little bit and then plough forward again. I felt bad losing because so many people have helped and supported me and as a fighter you can't help feeling you've let people down. Also, I would have loved to have won to help motivate Kiefer and Michael for their fight this coming weekend. I won't be able to be too lazy this week because I'm going to help them to get ready. They will do great. Thanks again to everyone for all the support.

ah thats a pity but i think how someone handles defeat is just as important as how they handle a win. an499329

Truwe champions are defined by their response to defeat it is just a small step backwards buddy qand a learning one at that..look out for the backlash next opponent lol

Rob, really, really sorry to hear of the loss. I have been watching the forum all morning waiting for the result to show up. I had read some updates on the Sherdog site early this morning but couldn't get confirmation of the result so I kept my mouth shut (which is very difficult for me as you know). Again, sorry about the loss. As for me, I don't think you have let anyone down, you may feel that way now but you will be back, stronger than ever with even more support. Talk to you soon.
